Dragon Lantern Festival Display in Malaysia
A 12-meter illuminated dragon and a 5-meter fortune-themed lantern set created for a Taoist temple's Year of the Dragon celebration.

A culturally specific centerpiece for a temple celebration
The display needed to read clearly as a dragon-year celebration while remaining practical to assemble at the destination.
This dragon lantern festival display in Malaysia combined two custom-made groups. The first was a long illuminated dragon positioned as the main visual landmark. The second was a taller fortune-themed composition featuring a dragon, a pearl form and auspicious symbols.
The colors, motifs and proportions were developed for the temple setting rather than selected from a generic event catalogue. Warm gold, red and blue lighting gave the dragon a strong night-time silhouette, while cloud bases and raised details helped the body remain visually legible from a distance.
At approximately 12 meters long, the primary dragon created a natural photo point near the temple entrance. The companion display added height and reinforced the celebration's good-fortune theme.
Fabrication Evidence
From steel structure to illuminated finish
The project photographs document both workshop fabrication and completed installation. The dragon's curved body was divided into manageable sections, then shaped, surfaced, colored and fitted with internal lighting before the full composition was checked together.
This pre-dispatch assembly allowed the team to review the dragon's continuous outline, the relationship between body sections and the appearance of the illuminated surface.

Shaped and colored surface
Scaled textures, flame forms, facial details and cloud bases created a readable silhouette in daylight and after dark.

A step-by-step installation video accompanied the project so the destination team could follow the assembly sequence.
On-Site Evidence
Installed at the Malaysian temple venue
Venue photographs show the completed dragon positioned in front of the temple architecture in both daylight and night conditions. The installation was also photographed in local Malaysian media coverage, providing an additional record of the display at its destination.
